⛰ Altitude Awareness

Dillon sits above 9,000 feet. The air is thin and dry: drink plenty of water, go easy on alcohol and hard exertion your first day, and use strong sunscreen and lip balm. A headache or shortness of breath usually just means rest and hydrate — most people adjust within a day or two. If symptoms are severe or don’t improve, seek medical care; local clinics treat altitude sickness routinely.

❄ Winter Driving

Colorado’s traction law can require snow tires, all-wheel drive, or chains on I-70 and mountain roads. Check conditions at COtrip.org or dial 511 before driving, give yourself extra time, and keep the gas tank at least half full in storms.

🚌 Getting Around

The marina, amphitheatre, farmers market, Town Park, and rec path are all an easy walk. The free Summit Stage shuttle stops right out front (Buffalo Street) — in winter, Keystone pickups are about :05 and :35 past the hour; heading home, about :03 and :33. For A-Basin, Breck, or Copper, transfer at Keystone or Silverthorne Station. All buses are free with ski/board racks — schedules at summitstage.com or (970) 668-0999. A car is easiest for exploring; I-70 is busiest heading up Friday/Saturday and down Sunday/holidays, so travel early or late.
